How to Ride Training

DART staff provides small group training to help individuals learn to ride the bus in Greater Des Moines. Training will demonstrate how to plan a trip, read maps and schedules, recognize bus stops, pay fares, practice rider safety and more. How to Ride Training sessions are free and open to the public. Masks and social distancing will be required for in-person trainings. View more information on our COVID-19 response.

How to Ride Training sessions for 2022 are scheduled on the following dates:

  • January - Virtual* held on Tuesday, January 18 at 12:00 p.m. noon
  • February - Virtual* held on Tuesday, February 15 at 3:00 p.m.
  • March - Virtual* held on Tuesday, March 15 at 12:00 p.m. noon
  • April - In-person held on Tuesday, April 19 at 3:00 p.m. in Multimodal
  • May - Virtual* held on Tuesday, May 17 at 12:00 p.m. noon
  • June - In-person held on Tuesday, June 21 at 3:00 p.m. in Multimodal
  • July - Virtual* held on Tuesday, July 19 at 12:00 p.m. noon
  • August - In-person held on Tuesday, August 16 at 3:00 p.m. in Multimodal 
  • September - Virtual* held on Tuesday, September 20 at 12:00 p.m. noon
  • October - In-person held on Tuesday, October 18 at 3:00 p.m. in Multimodal 
  • November - Virtual* held on Tuesday, November 15 at 12:00 p.m. noon
  • December - In-person held on Tuesday, December 13 at 3:00 p.m. in Multimodal

In-person How to Ride Training sessions will be held in the Multimodal Room at DART Central Station (620 Cherry Street, Des Moines, second floor).
